If a cutting disc is particularly thin, the cut is simply easier. Of course, this also applies to cutting stainless steel. And this applies equally when cutting solid material, profiles, threaded rods or thin-walled sheet metal.
Less material loss, less burr formation, less thermal stress, less distortion, less tarnish color - these are five factors that not only convince users in container or pipeline construction, railing or special vehicle construction when cutting stainless steel with extra-thin cutting discs.
Cutting discs work much more reliably and cut more precisely if you do not push them into the material, but instead move the angle grinder back and forth in an oscillating motion in the cutting direction and in a smooth pendulum motion. The contact pressure of the machine on the workpiece during cutting should be such that the speed of the machine hardly drops during the cut (you would hear this).
Pressing too hard will only lead to measurably higher wheel abrasion and a reduction in cutting speed. However, oscillating cutting increases the overall cutting speed and can also significantly extend the service life of your cutting disc for stainless steel.
To prevent rust formation, the special cutting discs for stainless steel are free of iron, sulphur and chlorine and are therefore identified accordingly with an FE/S/CL < 0.1% symbol.
So if you need to process different workpieces, you should never switch from mild steel back to stainless steel. Normal steel particles could be introduced into the stainless steel via the wheel. This makes the stainless steel susceptible to rust.
Please pay attention to how you clamp the workpiece. A maximum protrusion of 10 cm from the vice jaws is a good guideline. This should prevent the workpiece from fluttering.
The first cut with a brand new wheel is not always easy. As a general rule, the less vibration, the more consistently aggressive and cleaner the cut.
If possible, use products that bear the oSa® logo. Tools with the oSa® logo are manufactured in accordance with strict guidelines that apply worldwide. This offers you the greatest possible protection against accidents caused by unsafe grinding tools.
All RHODIUS cutting discs for stainless steel bear the oSa® logo and therefore meet the highest safety standards of the Organization for the Safety of Abrasives.
The new RHODIUS XT10, the extremely powerful, thin cutting disc for steel, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals, achieves particularly good cutting results in stainless steel and especially on powerful angle grinders, but also on weaker ones. When cutting stainless steel, it impresses with a fast, light, precise and gentle cut. The RHODIUS XT10 makes work easier and faster, even in solid material. The big plus of the RHODIUS XT10, however, is the further improved, particularly long service life.
In addition to extra-thin cutting discs, freehand cutting discs are also suitable for cutting stainless steel with an angle grinder. Freehand cutting discs from RHODIUS are a first-class choice, especially if the price-conscious user focuses on a long service life in rough applications. At RHODIUS, cutting discs with a disc thickness greater than 1.9 mm are designated as freehand cutting discs.
